Kitchen, Wide-Angle View

We used warm colors to welcome guests, who though at first stunned by the size of the house and property, soon feel right at home because we designed the public parts of the house for welcome and comfort.

The psychological and emotional impact of color can’t be over-stated. People feel welcomed and hugged around cheery yellows and reds in kitchens and Great Rooms. This is how we wanted people to feel, rather than welcoming guests who would otherwise feel overwhelmed or even inadequate if surrounded by “too much house.”

There’s certainly a place for fancy homes in our culture, and neighbors who have built quality homes that are anyting but “McMansions” wow us with their style. Former OU football coach Bob Stoops lives just across the highway from us, and he kept artisans and workers busy for five years building a glorious home that rivals any in the world. Within a few square miles, there are several truly impressive estates and mansions, to be sure.

This is a home on an estate, but it’s a home. If you are looking for something a little different and a lot enduring and timeless, could this be it?
