Let’s talk about granite. When we purchased this Land Run-era property and learned we’d have to demolish the existing house, we wanted to do what we could to honor the heritage of that homestead. The way we did it was by designing a house that looked like it had been there for 100 years, using design elements that have been around for hundreds of years (as per “A Pattern Language,” the design and architecture classic).
The granite is called “Oriental Dream,” and there are only two other homes in all of Oklahoma that were able to use this granite. It was quarried for a short time and then no more was to be had. It perfectly complements the warm colors of the house and the property.
